Highlights

  • The speakers highlighted the importance of figuring out your style of studying to fully make use of the time you have left before your examinations.
  • Some of the best practical study methods discussed in the talk were active recall, note-taking, flashcard-making, practicing multiple choice questions and testing yourself with past year papers.
  • All speakers agreed that a great way to make yourself study productively is to set some time for yourself to have an intense study session for maximum focus. Alternatively, studying in groups with your study buddies will help you jump back into the mood to study when you get demotivated or lack any drive to start revising.
  • For fact-heavy subjects that include a lot of memorisation, the speakers suggested to start with the basic storyline or flow of events before going in depth and jumping into the details.
  • For mathematical subjects like Additional Mathematics or Accounting, the speakers recommended to fully master the basics before proceeding with more complicated questions.
  • There was a heavy emphasis by all three speakers on the importance of having a strong support system to help you push on during exam seasons. Whether it be your family members or friends, be sure to have someone to rely on when you need an energy boost or some extra dose of motivation for your examinations.
  • The speakers also mentioned that in order to achieve a good balance between your studies, social life and extracurricular, be sure to organise your time properly and schedule some time for yourself in order to relax. After all, mental health is the most important thing to take note of so you can take your examinations calmly with less stress.
  • “Exams aren’t everything. This is just the first step of the long journey ahead of you.” Although you might be putting immense pressure on yourself to succeed in the present, you must remember that there are always many more opportunities that lie ahead of you.
