Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus last year, Malaysia was propelled to make the difficult decision of implementing the Movement Control Order (MCO) in order to curb the infection and the increase in mortality rate. Ultimately, all of us were forced back into our homes which did bring rise to many implications – specifically, the switch from physical classes to online learning.
While all students were victims of the consequences that came with online learning, batch ‘20 had the most to worry about since they were facing the biggest exam of their high school life – SPM. With the sudden shift in our education in such unprecedented times, no one knew what to expect.
Furthermore, what was supposed to end in 2020 was now starting in February 2021 as it was announced that SPM would be postponed. This caused an array of mixed opinions whereby some students were grateful for the extra time provided whilst some felt awfully demoralized by the fact that there was no assurance that SPM would not be postponed again.
However, even with all the hardships that batch ‘20 endured, they were still able to cross the finish line and allay their SPM examinations for good. This was undoubtedly no easy task as their minds and bodies were put to the test over this period of time that felt like almost an eternity. This should serve as a lesson to all students out there; whatever challenges you may face down the road, hang in there because you will win the fight eventually.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish the best of luck to all of batch ‘20 SPM candidates and especially to our beloved batch Azforencia for their SPM results this coming June!
