With the Movement Control Order (MCO) being over, we can finally go back to our lives as usual before the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the events we have been looking forward to for quite a while is Majlis Sukan Sekolah (MSS), at both the district level, MSS Daerah (MSSD) and state level, MSS Negeri Melaka (MSSNM).

Kicking off the sports season was the MSSNM Swimming Championship, which was carried out from 5 – 7 July 2022. Held in Pusat Akuatik Hang Jebat, our swimmers tried their best to come out on top. In the weeks prior to the big day, members of the KYS Swimming Team trained hard to prove they were still every bit as resilient as they were before the MCO. Overall, KYS won 4 bronze medals under 4 separate categories, which were U15 boys individual, U15 boys team, U15 girls team and U18 girls team.

Next was the MSSNM Rugby Championship, held from 16 – 18 July 2022. The first event was the Circuit 10’s Championship on 16 July 2022 in SMK Seri Tanjong. There, KYS Rammers ‘A’ became the cup champions while KYS Rammers ‘B’ came out as the shield champions. Soon after that on 18 July 2022 the Curtain Raiser Cup 10’s was held in SMK Telok Mas. The rammers went all out, and yet again the KYS Rammers ‘A’ became the cup champions while KYS Rammers ‘B’ became the shield champions.

Moving on to the next event, MSSNM Chess was from 18 – 21 July 2022. The members of the chess team arrived in SMK Padang Temu with high hopes, aiming to bring back a few medals. Luckily, the tournament went in their favour as the KYS Chess team managed to win a silver medal and a bronze medal for the U15 girls category while the U18 girls secured a gold medal.

One of the highlights of this sports season was the MSSD Athletics Championship, held in SMK Seri Kota from 19 – 21 July 2022. The KYS track and field athletes trained hard to ensure they could secure great placings in this championship. We suppose hard work truly does pay off, because the team came back with 8 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze medals. The cherry on top was that KYS had also won the award for the best institution at the championship, for we had amassed the highest number of medals.

The next event from this season is the MSSNM Tennis Championships. From 19 – 22 July 2022, members of the KYS Tennis team fought valiantly to obtain great results in the championships at the Ayer Keroh Tennis Complex. The KYS Tennis team managed to snap up three medals during this championship. One gold medal was won in the U18 girls category while one silver medal and two bronze medals were won in the U15 girls category.

Last but not least, the MSSNM Golf Championships took place in the Ayer Keroh Country Club. Held from 20 – 21 July 2022, members of the KYS Golf team managed to bag a bronze medal under the U18 boys category.

As for now, these are the results for the events the athletes of Kolej Yayasan Saad have taken part in already. Don’t forget to tune in during the coming weeks for more updates regarding the MSS championships!
