Trinity Win for KYS
By Dinie Azimi bin Daud and Alysha Hanoum Arif
After 2 years of the pandemic, the KYSM Triathlon Team were finally back in action. On the 20th August, the KYSM Triathlon Team consisting of two coaches and 31 students participated in the Kenanga Port Dickson Triathlon 2022.
The KYSM Triathlon Team departed for Avillion Hotel around 11:30 a.m. When they arrived, the manager and the advisor registered the team and collected the race packs for each team. After that, all participants were given time to study their route and were then briefed about their race packs.
The next day, the cyclists set up their bikes and equipment, which left everyone with plenty of time to be mentally and physically prepared. Then, everyone had their warm ups and did whatever needed preparation. Everyone was excited and nervous all at the same time.
At 7:40 a.m, the race began. Our swimmers started their 1.5 km open water swim. The cyclists journeyed off on their 40km quest for victory. Finally, the runners were up for a 10km run. After a tense hour, marked the end of their PD Triathlon journey that ended at 11:05 a.m.
All of our triathletes took a breather while anxiously waiting for the results. Thankfully, all relay teams placed an outstanding time. Not to mention, our KYSM team 1 secured 3rd place on the podium in the Relay Team Open category. No matter what, all KYS participants are our champions nonetheless.
It was truly an astonishing first race after a long dreadful pandemic. The KYSM Triathlon team, went back to campus with a big smile on their faces as they achieved a major accomplishment with only a month of training. What the team would like to show is that, no matter how much you’ve trained, if you put your mind to it, you’ll surely achieve your goal. Push yourself to the limit.
Most importantly, thank you to our coaches, Coach Azim and Coach Farah for their immense effort in providing the best training for our champions.
