Inside Kolej Yayasan Saad: A peek into our daily routine

by Adam Mika’il
Kolej Yayasan Saad (KYS) isn’t just about books and exams; it’s a place where students learn, grow, and make unforgettable memories. Everyday is packed with activities, yet there’s always room for fun and friendships. Life here might be structured, but trust us, there’s never a dull moment!
Weekday Routine
Mornings at KYS start bright and early. By 6:00 AM, students are up, getting ready for the day. Muslim students perform their Fajr prayers, and then it’s time for breakfast at the dining hall. Regardless of whether you’re still half-asleep or already buzzing with energy, a good meal helps fuel the day
Classes begin at 7:45 AM and go on until 2:15 PM, with a short break in between. It’s not all about lectures—teachers encourage discussions, projects, and interactive learning. After a full morning of lessons, students head for lunch, followed by Zuhur prayers.
Afternoons are when things get more exciting. From 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM, students engage in co-curricular activities or attend extra classes. Whether it’s practicing for a debate, or just having fun with friends, there’s something for everyone. At 5:00 PM, students prepare for sports such as rugby, football or just a light jog to keep the body healthy. By 6:00 PM, students freshen up, rest briefly, and prepare for the evening.
Evenings at KYS are a blend of unwinding and preparation. After Maghrib prayers and dinner, students can socialize with friends, take a short walk, or simply relax. However, by 8:00 PM, it’s back to work—prep time means revising lessons or finishing up assignments. By 10:30 PM, most students are getting ready for bed, although there’s often someone squeezing in some last-minute studying before lights out at 11:00 PM.

Weekends and Student Life
Weekends are a little more flexible, yet remain filled with activities. Some students attend special programs, leadership workshops, or school events, while others enjoy their free time. Clubs, sports training, and community service projects also happen over the weekend, keeping students engaged beyond the classroom.
The best part of life at KYS? The friendships. Living together in a boarding school means late-night chats, inside jokes, and bonds that last a lifetime. Despite the busy schedule, students find ways to unwind—whether it’s playing a quick game of rugby, catching up on a TV series, or relaxing with friends.

A Journey to Remember
Life at KYS is an adventure. While rules and responsibilities exist, countless moments of laughter, growth, and discovery abound. It’s a place that shapes students into confident, independent individuals while giving them experiences they’ll never forget. Whether it’s excelling academically, leading a club, or simply surviving prep time, every day at KYS is a step towards greater heights.
“Excellence is an art won by training and habituation.”
