As the sun rose over the horizon and peeked through the thick clouds, the students of Kolej Yayasan Saad lined up for the annual Cross Country Championship they had prepared for. When the whistle finally blew, everyone charged forward with pounding hearts and pure excitement. As the morning went on, it became clear that this was more than just a race—it was a true test of character.

The course was brutal , hitting the runners with steep, sandy hills and heavy humidity that left everyone drenched and gasping for air. By the halfway point, leg cramps felt like fire, but seeing friends gritting their teeth just ahead kept everyon pushing forward. They crossed the finish line exhausted, yet unbreakable.

After hours of giving it everything they had, Razak House emerged victorious under the leadership of Nik Hariz and Qeysha Arissa. They had rallied the team with consistent daily training, turning individual effort into powerful teamwork. That hard work didn’t just win the race; it built something much deeper within the group. For the students, the benefits went way beyond the track.

Cross Country isn’t just about running. This event taught the students discipline, from hesitant runs at 5pm, to the mental battles fought to urge themselves to keep going. It offered a refreshing escape into nature amid our rigorous academic routine. For KYS students, cross country gave us fresh air and an opportto recharge in natural surroundings, proving physical fitness fuels our academic excellence.

Running alongside schoolmates taught the runners the real power of perseverance and smart pacing—figuring out exactly when to sprint and when to save energy. It became clear that true victory comes from sticking it out through the pain and cheering on teammates, regardless of circumstances.

These lessons are turning the students into tougher, more supportive people who are ready to handle whatever life throws at them. Whether it was a steep hill or a difficult exam, the mindset remained the same: keep moving forward and support the person next to you.

At KYS, cross country isn’t just a simple annual event on campus. It is a major challenge that strengthens school spirit and helps students grow as well-rounded people, uniting dorms, houses, and batches in a shared sense of pride. This collective strength reinforces the school’s reputation for nurturing leaders who can excel in both sports and studies.

Events like this highlight exactly why KYS continues to produce top achievers who can succeed on national stages. It isn’t just about the running; it’s about the grit and leadership that stays with the students long after the finish line.
