KYSER League begins with pickleball, one house draws first blood

KYSER successfully held its first inter-house tournament under KYSER League 2026, bringing together members for a lively day of pickleball on Saturday, 25th July 2026 at Tomaz Pickleball Club.

The tournament marked the opening event of KYSER League 2026, KYSER’s new year-long inter-house sporting competition. Throughout the year, members will compete across a variety of sports, with houses earning points based on participation and performance at each event. At the end of the season, the house with the highest cumulative points will be crowned KYSER League 2026 Champion.

The turnout was a highlight in itself with KYSERs from across different batches coming together on court, including Alynn Ain Aziz from the pioneering KYS batch of SPM 1997, showcasing how the KYSER spirit spans generations.

The tournament was also open to non-KYSERs, giving members the opportunity to team up with friends, family members or other pickleball enthusiasts. Each team of two was required to include at least one KYSER.

The tournament was organised by Zati Zainal, SPM 2009, whose efforts brought the whole event together, with assistance from Danish Danial, SPM 2023.

The tournament featured two categories: 8 teams competing in the Mixed category, and 10 teams battling it out in the Men’s category. Everyone had a great time, with the competition staying friendly and spirited throughout.

Points for the overall leaderboard were awarded as follows:

• 5 points for each participating team
• 1 additional point for each KYSER in the team
• 5 points for each match won
• 10 points for third place
• 15 points for second place
• 20 points for first place

This point system rewards both participation and performance, giving every house the opportunity to climb the leaderboard as the league continues.

• 2nd: Icetee (Razak) – Estee Nordeera Ahmad Zahari, SPM 2001 & partner
• 3rd: The Kop (Hussein) – Imran Fadzil, SPM 2007 & partner

Men’s Category

• 1st: Shaz Squared (Razak) – Shazwan Fadhli, SPM 2008 & partner
• 2nd: Mat Kilau (Hussein) – Shahrul Affendy Samsudin, SPM 2000 & partner
• 3rd: Dokong Dinkers (Hussein) – Mohd Hazreeq Haron, SPM 1999 & partner

The opening tournament has set the tone for an exciting season. Hussein has claimed the early lead with 200 points, followed by Razak with 138 points and Rahman with 106 points.

The race for the top spot is far from over, with plenty more points up for grabs. Get ready to represent your house in our next sporting event. We look forward to seeing even more KYSERs there!
