KYSER President’s Raya Address

Fellow KYSERs, ladies and gentlemen
First and foremost, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all our alumni members around the world. May this season bring renewed joy, forgiveness, and meaningful time with those closest to you. For many of us, Hari Raya carries the same warmth as returning to a familiar dorm corridor. Familiar faces, shared laughter, and memories that refuse to grow old.
I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to all members who participated in the recent Annual General Meeting. Your presence, your voices, and most importantly your trust in the current committee form the foundation of everything we will build moving forward. KYSER is only as strong as the confidence placed in its leadership, and we carry that responsibility with humility.
Following the AGM, the newly selected executive team made a conscious decision to begin with structural reforms rather than a rapid series of social activities. This meant focusing on several foundational matters:
• Strengthening the legal standing of the society
• Conducting a comprehensive review of the constitution
• Performing essential housekeeping of financial accounts
• Establishing governance through the appointment of Directors
Naturally, this resulted in a noticeable reduction in networking events over the past few months. It was not the most popular choice. But it was a necessary one.
Think of it as reinforcing the pillars before decorating the hall. Quality before quantity. Strategy before spontaneity. Foundation before celebration.
Our aim is not simply to run events. Our aim is to build an institution that can endure for generations of KYSERs.
Even during this period of restructuring, the spirit of the community remained alive. I am proud to share that together we have raised more than RM13,000 for various charitable causes, including our Ramadhan dedication initiatives and contributions toward funeral collections for members and families in need. These acts remind us that the KYS bond extends far beyond school years.
In parallel, the committee has also begun strengthening relationships with key stakeholders. One important step was a stakeholder management meeting with the leadership of KYS Sdn Bhd, ensuring that the alumni community continues to maintain a constructive and forward-looking relationship with the institution that shaped us.
We also celebrated an important milestone together with the virtual celebration of International Women’s Day, recognizing the immense contributions of all KYSER women. The strength of KYS has always been the partnership between its men and women leaders, and the alumni must continue reflecting that same balance and respect.
Another important milestone was the completion of a communications platform survey among KYSERs. Your responses will help us design a communication ecosystem that connects members locally and globally more effectively.
However, an alumni society cannot thrive through committee work alone.
We invite every KYSER to participate in shaping the future of this community through three powerful forms of contribution:
• Physical support by attending events and engaging in programs
• Financial support by enabling initiatives that benefit members and society
• Reputational support by representing the KYS name with excellence in your respective industries
Our ambition is clear.
KYSER is poised to become a society that cultivates a lifelong network of leaders who shape industries, serve society, and elevate the reputation of Kolej Yayasan Saad.
Our focus will remain anchored on three pillars:
Heritage. Networking. Influence.
In the coming weeks, we will present a 90-Day Address outlining the progress of these structural reforms, together with the announcement of Committee members and an event calendar that will mark the next phase of engagement for our community.
We will also have the opportunity to showcase KYSERSPACE – a networking platform that will revolutionise the way KYSERS interact with each other around the world.
Before I conclude, it is important to acknowledge the work of those who came before us. On behalf of the entire alumni community, I extend our sincere gratitude to the outgoing committee led by Nurisyam, Class of 1997, for their service and dedication to the society. Leadership is a relay, and we continue the race because of the ground you have prepared.
To all KYSERs near and far, thank you for your continued faith in this community.
May our network grow stronger.
May our heritage grow prouder.
And may the KYS name continue to stand tall wherever our alumni go.
Selamat Hari Raya, and thank you.
