More than just a pledge

On the 1st of August 2026, Iveraxia successfully held their main event of the year, Pledge of Excellence. Just like every other Form 5 batch before them, the event was held to celebrate 100 days before the first written SPM examination. This event aims to give support to all students who are taking their national examination this year, not only physically but also emotionally, from parents, teachers and the management of Kolej Yayasan Saad. This event was meant to be a stepping stone for all students to strive harder and give their fullest effort to excel in their SPM.

The event started smoothly with the arrival of all parents from different parts of the country. Some came all the way from Pahang, Kedah and Terengganu, while others even flew from Sabah just to make it here for their children. The event was then followed by the arrival of our honoured guest, the Parents Representative of Iveraxia, Dato’ Azmall Jamaludin, alongside the Management Team of Kolej Yayasan Saad.

After that, the event continued with the speeches by batch representatives of Form 1, Form 2, Form 3 and Form 4. Their speeches were filled with prayers, wishes and words of affirmation for the Form 5 students to continue to try their best despite whatever challenges we face. After that came the speech from the Iveraxia Batch Leader with the Assistant Batch Leader, Marsya Sofia. Their speech was filled with encouragement for their fellow batchmates to keep going even when things get tough. They also gave heartfelt appreciation to their batchmates who have been alongside them no matter the situation, supporting each other from the start to the present and the future, as well as for being the family they never knew they needed. This appreciation was also given to all of the parents who attended the event and, not to forget, the teachers who have never grown tired of educating our generation.

As we continued the event, we welcomed our distinguished guest, Dato’ Azmall Jamaludin, as the Iveraxia Parents Representative. His speech was filled with words of appreciation to lift our spirits as we go through this tough phase of life. He voiced the sentiments of most of the parents by emphasising that love is not determined by our A’s but is an unconditional truth present since the day we were born into this world.

Moving forward, the Pledge of Excellence continued with the handover of booklets from the parents to the students. Each booklet was filled with memories, quotes and recognition of every single person in the batch to make sure no contribution was left unnoticed. It was a heartfelt moment for all parents and students. Each student got to come up on stage and hug their parents– symbolising the sacrifices they will make in getting the best results for SPM. Some cried, some laughed, but I know every single soul up on that stage that day was determined to make sure the faces they were seeing would smile again on the day the SPM results came out.

Subsequently, the main agenda of the day came– the recitation of the Pledge of Excellence led by the Batch Leader, Syazani Elman. Iveraxia’s Pledge brings the batch together through a shared commitment to gratitude, resilience, and academic success. It reminds students to appreciate the support and sacrifices of their parents and teachers, while giving them a clear purpose as they prepare for the SPM. More than just an academic commitment, the pledge also promotes important values such as teamwork, perseverance, and learning from setbacks. Through this initiative, students are encouraged to face challenges positively and support one another throughout their SPM journey. Ultimately, the pledge aims to prepare Iveraxia not only for their examinations, but also for the challenges they may face in the future.

“SPM starts from Form 1. And this batch has shown powerful progress ever since,” said Mr. Tan in his speech. In his speech, Mr. Tan also highlighted Iveraxia’s excellence in academic achievements, co-curricular involvements and many more of their active participation in KYS programmes over time.

Before the event ended, one more speech was given by Prof. Dr. Mohd Azizan Mohd Noor. He shared that he truly enjoyed watching this batch grow from when we were in Form 1 until today. He said that growth is very important for one’s development, no matter if it is biological, cognitive or social. Every growth that we are experiencing today will shape our future– how we talk to people, how we carry ourselves forward and how we manage to tackle the obstacles we are going to face.

All in all, the Pledge of Excellence was truly an eye-opening experience for many people. We learned to be true to our promises, we learned to be more appreciative towards our parents, teachers and staff and, most importantly, we learned the significance of growth in our lives. We hope that this event will be remembered and become one of the most memorable moments we have ever experienced in college. May this event become a bridge for all Iveraxians to continue striving for the best results in SPM and, together, attaining Greater Heights.
