A few members of the KYSER Weekend team, Siti Kamariah, Faezah Jaapar (pioneer batch), Azeem (2007) and I, Izian (2005) had the honour of meeting the man himself for moreh, to personally invite YBhg. Tan Sri to our KYSER Weekend. Also present was Dr. Azizan, Chairman of the Board of Governors.
What was intended to be a quick greeting to invite Tan Sri, turned into a 2-hour meaningful exchange about KYS memories and the future of KYSER.
YBhg. Tan Sri shared extraordinary stories of the early days of KYS, how the campus was built in a little over 5 months. It has now grown into a premier institution that has provided quality, well-rounded education to over 1,200 young Malaysians and created lasting friendships along the way.
Interestingly, we were able to meet Tan Sri by joining him in his nightly “hangout” session in Bangsar Shopping Centre, with his batch mates whom he had known for 5 decades. Yes, you read it right. Nightly.
By the end of the night, after learning from the experiences of Tan Sri and his friends, it was obvious to us that it all begins with friendship. It also needs to be nurtured. The quote by Henry Ford has never proven to be more accurate, “If friends move forward together, then success takes care of itself”.
