2021 means something different to everyone

There are people whose hearts thump with an inane sense of wonder and excitement at the mention of “a new school session.”

Some curl up on their beds, eyes flickering closed; all just to get enough shut-eye before the hectic hustle and bustle of school life gets to the best of them.

Others hit the books, days, weeks and even months before school reopens. As they should, of course, because academics is always a top priority for the students of KYS!

To celebrate the start of our shared school year, dearest students, let’s take a look into some of the lives, moments and memories shared by others ranging from our enthusiastic Form 1s to the more experienced Form 5s.

School started early for the members of the newly established Prefectorial Board on the 3rd of April. Gathering in the Great Hall, prefects and ex-oficios were introduced to the Big 14. They were given briefings about their duties for the new school year.

The school session of 2021 in KYS officially began on the 5th of April when the existing students and the new Form 2 to Form 5 students arrived at the school.

Here’s how it went for some of the members of our student body.

“From being nervous but excited to tired but energised, first day back to school made us feel a lot of things. Overall, it ignited the flame of determination in us to push through exams with the help of our beloved teachers and the support of our cherished friends!” – Qhairun Sofea (Form 5 student)

“I was excited to come back to school since I could see all my friends again and learn more efficiently. I’ve missed all the fun activities in Kolej Yayasan Saad and the people I’ve had the best moments with.” -Farra Nadia (Form 2 student)

“At first, I thought Ramadhan in KYS with the new norm was going to be tough. However, it wasn’t bad after all. Everything was perfectly planned thanks to the teachers and the prefects. -Mifzar bin Mahathir (Form 5 student)

On the 10th of April, KYS warmly welcomed the Form 1 students to our humble abode with College Sisters, College Brothers and prefects helping them get accustomed to their life in KYS.

“After a very long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was finally time to go back to school. I was thrilled because it was my first time in Kolej Yayasan Saad Melaka, one of the most prestigious schools in Malaysia. I did not expect the campus to be so huge. I was amazed! The meals prepared by the chefs were also scrumptious and I had many opportunities to make new friends.” – Aeshlyn Kaur (Form 1 student)

“Although I was homesick at times, I started to realise that I’m so lucky to be here in KYS after hearing my seniors say such positive things about the school. Hopefully, my journey will permanently become a great time for me. Although I’ve only stayed in KYS for a week, I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone especially teachers and seniors for giving me so much support throughout my stay here.” – Irdini (Form 1 student)

Overall, this school session was off to a great start and we sincerely hope that all students will be able to reap the benefits of their stay here at Kolej Yayasan Saad. To quote the Head Boy of school session 2021, Qhalif Azariq,  “Kolej Yayasan Saad is not just a school. It is our home away from home.”
