On the 30th of October to the 1st of November 2020, Sekolah Tunku Abdul Rahman (STAR) will be hosting the 4th annual Intellectual Conference and Digital Exhibition, better known as the STAR ConfEx. The objective of this event is to cultivate global leadership and extraordinary talent to expose to the students in-depth on issues around the world. This competition involves selected schools across Malaysia ranging from Tunku Kurshiah College (TKC), Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) all the way to Sekolah Tun Fatimah (STF) and Sekolah Dato’ Abdul Razak (SDAR). This event is divided into four categories namely You-Lead, i-Coding, e-Explorace as well as Music and Arts.
Kolej Yayasan Saad sent a team for each category and the You-Lead team really needs your help. The You-Lead category consists of four aspects which consists of e-conference, website, infrographics and production team. For this event, the organising team has been assigned with a fictional country, given the name “Caster”, in which its problems are similar to those that we face today such as an economic crisis, drug war, and even an outbreak of a novel killer virus named IMPF-31. The aim of this article is actually to urge each and every one of you to give your utmost support to the KYS You-Lead team by attending the e-conference today. For your information, the school with the most views during their e-conference will win the School of Fame Award. The mentioned event will take place on the 31st of October 2020 in which the KYS team is scheduled to present at 3.45p.m. This event will be livestreamed on the STAROBA YouTube channel so do spare some time for us until the end of the stream as views are only counted if they are constant. We hope to garner your assistance in making this event another win for Kolej Yayasan Saad!
As for the i-Coding category, participants will be using Python programming language to code actions for a drone that will fly autonomously. Due to the Movement-Control Order, participants cannot be physically present to observe whether or not their drone flies. Instead, the event is live-streamed on the STAROBA YouTube Channel for the convenience of the participants. I am also proud to report that the KYS i-Coding team has managed to get through the qualifying round which was held last Saturday and will be competing in the final round.
The e-Explorace is an event where participants are in groups of three and must complete the tasks given in the allocated time. The concept is similar to that of an amazing race but due to setbacks, this year’s e-Explorace will be held virtually. Therefore, all users will be completing tasks in the virtual world of Minecraft.
Last but not least comes the Music and Arts category. This category has two main events which include i-Animation and i-Soundtrack. The i-Animation event requires for participants to make an animation in English complete with subtitles and a soundtrack. On the other hand, the i-Soundtrack team will be using the Garageband application to create their unique soundtrack which will be paired with the animation video.
This year’s STAR ConfEx has been carefully curated around the general theme of health. Therefore, all events and challenges will be related to this topic. It is hoped that this event will be beneficial for all participants.
Don’t forget to tune in to STAROBA’s YouTube Channel this Saturday to support the KYS You-Lead e-Conference and Production Team and spread the word! We need all the help we can get.
